Our Professional Approach

At Crest Haven Counseling, we are dedicated to assisting individuals on their mental health journeys. With over 25 years of practice in the field of counseling, Cheryl and Todd draw from a wealth of knowledge, training, and experience to empower you in overcoming life's challenges. We use an eclectic approach, integrating a variety of counseling theory strategies (including CBT, mindfulness, person-centered, brief solution-focused), to help you to achieve your treatment goals. Your story matters, and we are here to help you to write your next chapter.

About Us

We are married Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs) who believe that our clients should always be treated with dignity and respect. We have dedicated our lives to helping others to navigate their mental health and life challenges while pursuing their personal and professional dreams.

Cheryl earned a master’s degree (MS) in Community Counseling in 1991 from Shippensburg University and a doctoral degree (Ed.D.) in Organizational Leadership from Shenandoah University in 2011. She has provided counseling services in various settings since 1991, including outpatient mental health centers, hospital-based (crisis intervention), community-based, middle and high schools, and on a military base. For 6 years, Cheryl was a police/911 dispatcher, so she understands the stressors experienced by law enforcement officers and their loved ones. She also has a keen understanding of the challenges of aging, parenting, career changes, caring for aging parents, and overcoming significant health issues. (Cheryl is a breast cancer survivor.) In her spare time, Cheryl enjoys sightseeing with Todd, visiting their children, spending time with her parents, going to the theater, binge-watching TV programs, and relaxing in bookstores.

Todd earned a master’s degree (MA) in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University (formerly American School of Professional Psychology) in 2007 and a master’s degree (MBA) in Business Administration from Shenandoah University in 2012. He has provided counseling services in a variety of settings, including outpatient mental health centers, community-based, and residential programs since 1999. Todd has worked with clients on a variety of issues, including depression, grief/loss, anxiety, career changes, work-based stressors/challenges, parenting, and marital conflict. In his spare time, Todd enjoys traveling with Cheryl, visiting their children, woodworking, reading, and touring historical sites.
